Block Series 2019 Yenda Durif -

94 Points – ”The bouquet is strikingly floral, the palate dipped in dark chocolate (more please) and the tannins support rather than intrude”. James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion 2021 (v18)

91 Points – “A wine for those who like to be bludgeoned rather than caressed, attesting to the veracity of the back label schtick: a true heavy wine drinkers friend.  The sheer extract stains the palate and fills the senses. A satisfying, powerful red.”  James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (v16′)

Block Series 2019 Yenda Petit Verdot

Region: Yenda (Riverina, NSW)
Alcohol: 14.5%

Winemaker Notes
A Bordeaux variety with the translation “small green” which is referring to the berries during ripening; the berries when ready to harvest do remain small but have a deeply coloured purple, thick skin. The grape variety Petit Verdot performs very well in the local climate as we have a warm, dry end to Autumn and being a later ripening vine it is possible to get full, optimum ripness in the grapes. It produces wines similar to Cabernet Sauvignon but with more floral aromatics and a soft finish with firm tannin.

Dining Suggestions
Quail or grilled zucchini.

Block Series 2019 Yenda Petit Verdot -

92 Points – ”Sam has produced a wine of unusual elegance and drinkability”. James Halliday, Australia Wine Companion 2021 (V18)

95 Points – ”Vibrant purple colour, a real glass-stainer. Purple berries galore, over toasty and spicy oak. Juicy and seriously delicious on first sip, mulberries and blackberries, with tannins ripe and acidity in check. Screaming for a lovely steak. Fruit is pristine.” – The Real Review December 2019 (V18)

Block Series 2019 Heathcote Shiraz -

92 Points – ”Crushed and destemmed, matured in French and American oak. It’s bright, balanced, fresh and long”.  James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (v18)

“This is an old, but good-school shiraz, coating the mouth with blue and dark fruit flavours, boozy fruit cake spice, mocha and bourbon vanilla tones from an arsenal of American oak. Comforting, if far from prosaic. Like sagging into a comfy chair.”  James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (v16)
